409 - Sep 6
The session commenced on 6 September at 1800.
Gaius studied the Headband of Invisibility. He was able to attune himself to it. It is activated by thought using a trigger word. The Headband operates at 15th level.
Dell continued his training until the 7th and then decided to take a break to do some adventuring. He will need seven more days of training to complete his work.
On the evening of the 7th Gaius decided to visit the Lonely Princess inn to see what sort of reputation the party has in Trajectum. Spying some Elves, the canny Dwarf "accidently" spilt beer on one of the elves. An angry Elf threatened violence but was calmed down when Gaius bought some good wine to apologise. Gaius asked if the Elves had ever heard of a warrior named Tarryn. Indeed they had. They described him as a mighty warrior skilled in mysterious combat styles and a vanquisher of powerful enemies (they referred to the defeat of a Hobgoblin horde recently). The elves also noted that Tarryn had some powerful friends.
On the 8th the party decided to examine the house of the Necromancer (where they had previously encountered two Invisible Stalkers). The house was boarded up and showed no sign of recent habitation.
In search of adventure (well xp and loot actually but let us not be too critical) the party went two miles south from Trajectum. They came across an abandoned farm and found in the main building two corpses (a man and woman) hung from the celing from meat hooks. The hooks had been rammed into the ceiling and bodies hung in strips.
The party moved on. Five miles out from Trajectum they came upon a hillock with a granite Roman tomb on top.
The tomb according to the inscriptions, contained the remains of an Honestiores named Sempronius and his wife Livia. The tomb dated from 212AD.
The party entered and found a room with brightly painted walls and the floor strewn with human remains.
There was a door in the room. Opening it the party beheld two revolting undead creatures with extremely long claws (they proved to be BoneClaws). Snarling at the party for violating the tomb the Boneclaws attacked.
With some difficulty the party defeated the horrors. In the room were two stone funeral urns and a stone chest. The party (well Gaius actually) poured the dust that was all that remained of the Boneclaws and to their consternation the party saw the vapour begin to pour forth from the urns - the Boneclaws were regenerating!!
The party managed to smash one urn and, by pouring holy water into the urn, prevented the other Boneclaw from appearing.
Checking the stone chest, the party found two gold urns (inscribed Sempronius and Livia respectively) worth 1200gp each, 5,000sp. A scroll with Mount, Tenser's Floating Disk and Unseen Servant, A Potion of Levitation and Dust of Illusion.
Returning to Trajectum the party received information from the Hobbits hired by Scorpius, that the merchant Ashen Phut had been observed receiving consignments of Egyptian mummy cases.
Session ended at 1400, September 8.
